CURRICULUM
Curriculum Overview
At Balfour Nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS). The EYFS is a single curriculum framework that supports children’s learning and development from birth to 5 years (end of the child’s reception year).
The EYFS is made up of seven areas of learning which are divided into prime areas and specific areas. Each area is of equal importance, and we ensure our planning covers all areas equally.
We wholeheartedly believe young children learn through first-hand experience i.e. doing, touching and seeing for themselves through play and provide children with a variety of techniques to incorporate this.
Our planning is specific for each room, age and stage of development. Themes are carefully decided and balanced between what the children need to learn along with themes that interest them.
Our observations and assessments monitor your child’s development. Every child is allocated a key person who will work closely with you and your child. Your child’s key person is committed to supporting your child to achieve their full potential.
The EYFS highlights that parents are a child’s primary educator and hence we encourage parents to contribute to their child’s learning by inputting and supporting next steps.
